Essential to Sustain Dane’s has been the continued contribution of volunteers. Without them many of our activities would not have been possible. Collectively, these Sustain Daners, which include volunteers as well as professionals from the non-profit, business, government and academia sectors, are creating an informal yet powerful movement towards a more sustainable community.
A Sustain Daner is an individual dedicated to sustainability and actively influencing others through example, by engaging in dialogue, becoming an advocate and/or organizing to promote change. These individuals have supported Sustain Dane in various different capacities which have allowed the organization to plant its roots, grow organically and accomplish much of what was dreamed about years ago.
We encourage you to become a Sustain Daner by contributing your skills and resources in our journey to becoming a sustainable community. Anybody with an interest in sustainability can get involved. You do not have to live in the Madison or Dane County area, although our focus is mainly local. Here are just a few ways you can get involved with Sustain Dane:
- Show your support of Sustain Dane's achievements by making a donation.
- Invite a group of neighbors, fellow parishioners or coworkers to attend an introductory presentation about our sustainability discussion courses. Courses include Voluntary Simplicity, Healthy Children, Healthy Planet, Natural Step for Communities, Choices for Sustainable Living, Discovering a Sense of Place, Exploring Deep Ecology and Globalization and It’s Critics.
- Volunteer with Sustain Dane
- Join the Sustain Dane listserv, a forum for sharing ideas, resources, questions, and announcements related to local sustainability.
If you would like, we’d enjoy meeting with you to discuss these activities and other opportunities to be involved and become an active Sustain Daner. Email us with questions, or stop by our office.
