Global Warming: Changing CO2urse

“I really enjoyed talking about climate change issues with my neighbors. There has been so much information out there about this issue so it felt really good to reflect and discuss what it means to all of us. This course was the perfect tool to get me going and feeling empowered about what I can do individually and with my neighbors and the greater community.” - Global Warming: Changing CO2urse course participant

“Global Warming: Changing Co2urse” is a four session course exploring the history and science of global warming, personal values and habits as they relate to climate change, and personal actions to curb the effects of global warming.

This discussion course can be easily used in your workplace, faith center or home. It's designed to explore personal values and habits as they relate to climate change; to understand the history and science of global warming; and to empower individuals to take action to curb global warming.

Session Themes include:

  • Off Course:  For many of us the issue of global warming remains an abstract concept, something distant and too overwhelming to address in any meaningful way. Session One makes the issue of climate change more personal and concrete with a collection of readings.  What changes have you noticed near you, which you attribute to climate change?

  • Collision Course:Warming is a real and serious threat to all life on Earth, and it's happening right now. This session addresses the issue from historical, economic and scientific perspectives; offering insights into the complexity of the issue and calling for immediate action. Do you anticipate global warming changing your day-to-day life? How so?

  • Changing Course:  There are accessible and significant actions we can all take. Session Three highlights the many ways individuals, organizations and governments are already taking strong and effective action to curb carbon emissions. The articles offer hopeful and realistic means for addressing global warming.  Do you view carbon offsets as a part of the solution to curbing emissions? Why or why not?

  • Setting A New Course:  What is being asked of each of us, if we are to provide a livable planet for future generations? What will it take to create a sustainable future? This last session offers views of how we can best meet this challenge. The members of the Regeneration Project are motivated by a sense of moral obligation to care for the Earth. What motivates you?
