The Ice Age Park and Trail Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Foundation has more than 5,000 volunteers in Wisconsin and more than 4,800 members nationwide. Through a cooperative agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the National Park Service, the Foundation staff and volunteers work to create, build and maintain the many segments of the Ice Age Trail, a 1,200-mile national and state scenic trail located entirely in Wisconsin. About 55 miles of the Ice Age Trail are projected to cross Dane County from north to south linking three county parks and two state wildlife areas. About 20 miles of the Ice Age Trail are open for public use in Dane County.
