MOVIES!
In so many ways, contemporary filmmakers play the role that folk singers did in the Sixities; that is, they are bringing us important messages about the environment and the state of the world. We screen a film about once a month, like "Bag It!," a story about a man who decides to eliminate plastic from his life, and a recent showing at Sundance of "Queen of the Sun," a movie about the alarming decline of queen bees. In summer 2011, we also staged our first outdoor Eco-Movie with a 30-foot screen under the stars in James Madison Park, for over 200 of our closest friends.
ECO SALONS
Join us the second Monday of every month for our popular think-and-drink, starring community entrepreneurs and local sustainability heroes. Eco-Salons are held at Brocach, 7 W. Main Street. Doors and mingling at happy, happy Hour, 5 pm; program at 6 pm.
MY, WHAT A GREEN MONTH!
A staff-curated list of green-themed activities, events, workshops, seminars, talks, walks, films, and miscellany, updated every other week.
MY IDEAL BACKYARD
Over eight Saturdays, Sustain Dane hosts a springtime get-your-hands-dirty interactive workshop for homeowners seeking to put together a sustainable backyard. They learn the building and gardening skills necessary to install a raised bed, to put in a water catchment system, and to build a chicken coop--and then make them happen!
